I came to this hawker to look for the famous seafood soup but is closed Monday. So went around looking for a stall that sells decent lunch or possibly another seafood soup. This Yumsea is located at #01-46, at the back lane where the foot traffic is significantly lower than the front facing. What caught my attention is the Batang (Spanish Mackerel) offering which is not available at the famous Marsiling Seafood soup. I will never opt for the Dory fish which I consider junk from the Mekong river which is non palatable however hard you may try. Ordered a Batang + rice without prawn small size for $6.80. The owner explain ed that $8.30 set will get you more meat and seafood. Taste? Almost there! Using the old famous one as benchmark. Portion: More than sufficient for a big guy like me. Definitely enough Batang and meat. I will have a hard time finishing for the Big version. Taste: Definitely rank above most seafood soup in other hawker centre. There is is hint of trying to taste like the famous one. Cleanliness: Superb here! This area is lacking in most other typical hawker. The cutlery and sauces are laid out very nearly and very pleasing to the eyes. I would come again, the ambiance is great with gigantic fans above providing the breeze and the back lane is less crowded.
